The strength of the writing and the assured confidence and emotional nuance in which she delivers the song defies belief that...she's only been making music professionally for just two years. At one point she says "I'll sing until the angels cry". She can make them too.” - Mike Davies

FATEA

Nicole Mish

Singer-Songwriter

Nicole Mish writes contemporary folk music with a voice always searching for light in darkness, balancing wonder and disappointment, fear and hope. Her 2024 debut album, Whole Damn Sky, has been featured and played on radio stations all over the world. Americana Highways described Whole Damn Sky as “Unique and special. There’s nothing here that’s overdone or too sentimental. It’s all easygoing and rings true. Everything about the album is conscious and clear, with touches of old timey folk in an original more modern style all her own. And Mish’s songs will stick with you.” Mish has an Advanced Professional Songwriting certificate from Berklee and was a finalist in the 2024 UK Songwriting Contest. Mish has charted in the top 25 of the Folk Alliance International charts and has recorded with musicians internationally and in her California home studio. Her second album will be released in early 2026.

An eerie indie-folk song about wandering away from modern noise and distractions in search of real things, like ghosts.

Artist Reflection: The narrator of this song is a character I yearn to be. Like many of us, I am guilty of medicating myself with screens and I long to release myself from attachment to all the “shiny things” and spend more time “touching grass” with real people, past and present, who are beautifully flawed and complicated. In the modern world, we often lose sight of what it means to be human, with all of our quirks and eccentricities. Ghosts still yearning for something, stuck on something, lost but real, are more interesting to me than the tropes and pressures on us to be uncomplicated and live perfect lives.

Whole Damn Sky LP

Nicole Mish's debut album, Whole Damn Sky,  includes 14 of Mish’s own compositions.

In a review for FATEA magazine, Mike Davies the album as "a beguiling concoction of folk-Americana shaded songs touching on themes of relationships and human connection."

For the recordings, Mish teamed up with producer, engineer, arranger and musician Aeron Z Jones.  While Mish is the sole songwriter, Jones produced, arranged, mixed and was an instrumentalist on all tracks. The two worked mainly from Mish’s home studio in the San Francisco Bay area. Two songs were recorded during production retreats with Talent Is Timeless at Kris Górski’s Studio Audioplanet in Łąkie, Poland. Guest artists include Kris Górski on piano, Filip Wnukowski, Kenneth Blacklock, Katy Bridges and Sylwia Namroży on violin, Daniel Sobiesiak on cello, Łukasz Łapiński on drums and Noah Gothelf on banjo. The cover art is by Mary Commins.
